Gold is soft, so the enemy of a beautiful piece is friction and chemicals — not the metal itself.

Take rings and bracelets off before cleaning, swimming or applying perfume and lotion.

To clean at home, soak for ten minutes in warm water with a drop of mild soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse and pat dry.

Store each piece separately in a soft pouch so harder stones never scratch a softer gold surface.
